Life is a bit zany lately. My husband and I packed up our lives in Brooklyn and left the city we love after eight years. We’re spending a few weeks in Connecticut as we get our bearings before flying off to the U.K. at the end of the month. Then after our London adventure? We’re not sure where life is going to take us. But we’re letting ourselves be open to the possibility of something new. Or maybe the road will lead back to New York, and you know what, that’s totally okay with us.
In the mean time, I have been writing a lot. Not necessarily for this newsletter (sorry, folks, I’ll be on a more regular routine soon), but for work and for my fiction writing. I’ve been doubling down on assignments from publications so I could save up enough money to give myself a paycheck while I’m in school, which meant I was working myself maybe a tad too much. But I think it’s worth it for the amount I was able to save for my business. It was a lot, but I’m feeling proud of it.
I also decided to publish three more books, one of which came out just this week. It’s a romance novel set during fall in New York, about a girl who finds out a dark family secret and befriends a (rather hot) chef to get her answers.
Fiction writing has stretched me in new ways. It forces me to ask new types of questions: What do I need to research and learn to tell a compelling story, and why does this story need to be told?
The book required a lot of research. About intimacy complications, miscarriages, restaurant culture, New York City, and so much food. It was challenging as a journalist, but also really rewarding. And I would love for you to give it a read.
SUNDAY SUPPER is available for purchase via paperback and ebook on Amazon, and is also enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program.
As things slow down, I finally have time to focus on Forkful. Thank you for your patience this year. It’s been quite the journey, but I’m excited for all that is to come. I have so many new ideas of things I want to write about in the food and health space, and I can’t wait to get started again.
Oh, and maybe a few updates of all my London adventures, and tales of (hopefully) becoming a sommelier. But for now, enjoy my next book. Full of steamy romance and so much food, it will leave you feeling very hungry.
You are incredible, Kiersten! I look forward to reading your brilliant fiction. Congratulations and smooth travels!
